The Unofficial Kali/Eskrima Sessions…
For the last 2 weeks, I’ve been holding an informal session on the basics of Eskrima/Kali/Arnis (Fillipino Martial Arts) on Wednesdays, following the main practice session.
These classes are very informal and very very basic, focusing on the foundational aspects of striking, footwork, attack angling, aggressive/active blocking and single/double stick applications of Eskrima techniques. I’d encourage anyone interested in any type of weapon based martial art to join us as Eskrima/Kali is one of the most flexible set of weapon/empty-hand systems I’ve encountered.
Additionally, Eskrima can act as an excellent base on which to crossbreed systems and techniques from other arts and weapons. So again, if you’re interested in these sessions, please join us on Wednesdays, after 12. The location changes pretty regularly, so please just speak to me after class. This sessions is completely optional.
I’ll be posting anything to do with Kali/Eskrima directly on this page as this is more of a side project for the club rather than its main objective (hence the informal sessions). I hope you guys enjoy the sessions.
Respect,
Syed, P.R.O. of the MMAC
